ACT 235

Act 235 is the training and licensing of watch guards, protective patrolmen, detectives and criminal investigators, carrying and using lethal weapons in their employment; imposing powers and duties on the Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police; and providing penalties.

Step 1

Step 2

COMPLETE PHYSICAL BY YOUR PHYSICIAN

  • Uncorrected vision of at least 20/70 in one eye and 20/200 in the other

  • Corrected vision of at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other

  • Pass hearing examination (permitted to use hearing aid)

PASS A PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAM

SIGN UP THROUGH TACS SYSTEM

  • Applicants who meet the criteria above should use the TACS System to complete an online application.

  • Use your last name, full birthday, and full social security number to log in as a New User at the top of the screen.

  • Select the Home Act 235 button and select the Basic Training Application. Scroll down to select “Start Application”. 

  • Complete all required information on each screen and submit when you have finished. This will require a credit card payment of $50.00.

Step 5

GET FINGERPRINTED

  • When you submit your TACS application you will receive an automated email from Identigo/Morphotrust with instructions for scheduling your fingerprint session. 

  • You must be fingerprinted at one of the approved Identigo/Morphotrust locations

  • You will not receive the results of your fingerprints, these will be forwarded directly to the Lethal Weapons Certification Unit for review.

Step 6

EMAIL HQ@HAZAKHAZAK.ORG YOUR APPROVAL

  • Once the Certification Unit has received your application, fingerprints, physical, and psychological examination, you will receive an approval or denial notification by email.

  • If you receive official notification that you have been approved for training, email the approval to hq@hazakhazak.org

Step 7

TAKE THE ACT 235 COURSE COORDINATED BY HAZAK HAZAK

  • 40 hour course

  • Course covers legal aspects of security work, handcuffing, proper baton (nightstick) use, and proper use of handguns and shotguns

  • Range time to demonstrate profeciency with handgun and shot gun

Step 7

SUBMIT TO COMPLETED COURSE TO TACS

  • Upon completion of training, login to TACS using your last name, full birthday, and full social security number to submit the $30.00 certification fee
